REIKI SENSATIONS & EXPERIENCES
Reiki offers a unique and individual experience to everyone. It's also likely for someone to have a different Reiki experience from one Reiki session to the next.
Some possible Reiki experiences and sensations include:
-
Relaxation.
-
Feelings of safety, security, and acceptance.
-
Feelings of peace, joy, love, and happiness.
-
Visual experiences (such as seeing colors, lights, and/or imagery).
-
Remembering past memories, feelings, and/or emotions.
-
Heightened intuitive awareness and/or sensitivity.
-
Emotional release, awareness, and/or sensitivity.
-
Mental clarity and/or a heightened level of consciousness.
-
Bodily sensations and/or a heightened sense of touch, such as:
Mechanoreceptors: relating to the transmission of information pertaining to the skin.
(For example: pressure, vibration, and texture.)
Thermoreceptors: relating to temperature perception.
(For example: hot and/or cold.)
Nociceptors: relating to pain stimuli.
(For example: sharp pains, aches, and tingling.)
Proprioceptors: relating to self-movement and body position.
(For example: knowing where one's body is in space, and knowing the position of different parts of the body in relationship to each other.)
-
Feeling refreshed and energized.
-
Detox symptoms (such as headaches from the effects of toxins being released from the body).
-
Feeling sleepy.
-
Spiritual/mystical experiences.
-
Feeling refreshed and energized.

Not everyone has these types of experiences during a Reiki session. Everyone's body senses energy differently and some people may not experience anything. Having sensations or not is not an indicator of the effectiveness of the Reiki. If sensations do occur, it is important to understand that it is due to a shift in energy. This shift can take place on a physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual level. It's possible that some shifts in energy can feel quick, powerful, and noticeable while others can feel slow, gentle, and seemingly unnoticeable.
What each person experiences with Reiki is unique and individual to them. Kim recommends approaching each Reiki session openly and without any preconceived notions or expectations in order to most effectively allow Reiki to support their current individual needs.
